A Letter to Camdyn on her 9th Birthday!

Dear Camdyn,

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray

I can not fathom that today you are NINE! You are a beautiful little girl, inside and out. I am unbelievably proud of who you are. You are kind, friendly, honest, trustworthy, and loving. You are quick to defend others and you believe that everyone should be treated fairly. I love how you show love to others! You are quick to apologize and extend forgiveness graciously. You are fiercely independent. You want to help me with chores like laundry and cooking, for which I gladly share responsibilities with you! You adore dancing, singing, cheering and gymnastics. Your busy schedule keeps me on my toes. You are so quick-witted, and you constantly make me laugh.

Just a few short weeks ago you chose to follow Christ and you gave your life to Him. That decision was the single most important decision you will ever make, and my heart is filled with joy. You are a daughter of the King and my sister in Christ. What beautiful words those are to write. That decision to follow Christ won’t be a popular one. Your faith will be tested repeatedly, and I pray that you stand firm on the foundation you know to be true. Your God is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think. Hold tightly to His word and the truth of scripture.

Sometimes when I look at you, I have to catch my breath. I can’t believe how incredibly blessed I am to be your momma. You are such a blessing and I am so grateful to the Lord for Him entrusting me with your life. You are rapidly growing into a young woman and while I long to freeze time, I am simultaneously excited to watch your future unfold. You, my sweet girl, are going to move mountains.

Happy Birthday, Camdyn McKinley!

I love you always,

Momma

A Letter to Camdyn on her 8th birthday

Dear Camdyn,
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray
Last night, I kissed goodnight my seven year old baby and woke up this morning to an eight year old! I can’t believe how BIG you are! It seems like just yesterday the doctors were handing you to me for the first time!
As a 7 year old, you completed your second grade year. Your teacher was Mrs. Anderson and you fell in love with flamingoes because of her classroom theme. She taught you so much and you adored coming to school every day. The best lesson you learned in school this year though was to believe in yourself! Mrs. Anderson showed you that you could do ANYTHING (even hard math) when you believed in yourself!
As a 7 year old, you went on a great adventure. This year on our States Tour Road Trip, we went to Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, & Tennessee . This brings your grand total of states visited to 17. Your favorite stop on this trip is a tie between Biloxi, Mississippi (you LOVED Ship Island), Houston, Texas (you are now a huge Astros fan), and Memphis, Tennessee (who knew you would love Elvis so much)!  I hope you always remember these trips and will one day travel the US with your own children! I am so thankful that we take these trips together each year.
Camdyn, you are my absolute treasure! Being your momma is the greatest blessing! You are kind, funny, sarcastic, a great story teller, a beautiful writer, an eager reader, a loving soul, and a sweet friend!
You are beautiful, inside and out. Proverbs 31:30 says that “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” As you grow older, I continue to pray for you to discover the importance of your inner beauty. My continued prayer is for people see you as beautiful because of your kindness towards others and your passion for Christ. I pray that you would pursue the heart of a servant, love others more than yourself, and reflect the love of Christ in every aspect of your life. Always remember our motto: God first. Others second. Ourselves last.
I love you so much and I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for your 8-year-old self!
Happy Birthday, Camdyn McKinley!
Love,
Momma

A Letter to Camdyn on her 7th Birthday

Dear Camdyn,

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray

Last night, I kissed goodnight your sweet 6-year-old face. Today, you are seven. I truly cannot believe that you are seven! Where does time go? The years are flying by, each one faster than the year before. I wish I could freeze time and keep you six forever!

As a 6 year old, you completed your first grade year. Your teacher, Mrs. Wall, was precious and you thought she hung the moon. You learned so much at school and every day you were quick to share all about what happened and what you learned at school.

As a 6 year old, you faced your greatest fearyou pet a dog! You are still afraid of the big ones, and you insist the little ones must be held, but you did it! You reached your hand out and pet that dog. I was so proud of you in that moment that I literally had to choke back tears. We have a saying in our house, “Faith over fear,” and for the first time ever you put our motto into action.

As a 6 year old, you went on a great adventure. This year on our States Tour Road Trip, we went to Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri. This brings your grand total of states visited to 13. You tell people that your favorite state we went to was Iowa! We just had such an incredible time and I am so excited that you are getting to experience the beauty and history of our country as we travel each summer.

As a 6 year old, you learned what being a friend is all about. You experienced highs and lows of friendships and learned how to resolve conflicts on your own. You also learned when to just walk away. That is a tough lesson at 6.

Camdyn, every day is a great adventure with you by my side. You are such an amazing kid and I am blessed beyond measure to be your momma.

I love how kind you are.

I love how generous you are.

I love how funny you are.

I love how independent you are.

I love how girly you are.

I love all your dance moves.

I love how you stand up for what you believe.

I love how you are quick to apologize when you make mistakes.

I love how you are quick to forgive others.

I love how you love others.

I love YOU!

Baby girl, I am so proud of who you are and I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for your 7-year-old self!

Happy Birthday, Camdyn McKinley!

Love,

Momma

A letter to Camdyn on her 6th Birthday!

My Dearest Camdyn,

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. When you’re not happy, skies are gray...”

Today you are six. I’ve been telling you for a while that I needed you to stop growing up so fast and you always respond with “But Mommy, my body just can’t help it!” The years just keep flying by!

Your fifth year was quite a milestone achievement. You went to Kindergarten! Your teacher was Mrs. Brumbelow and you adored her. You came home every single day excited about learning. Your biggest accomplishment was learning to read this year. You are an incredible reader and I love how you devour books. You love all books written by Mo Willems and have a love for Junie B. Jones.

This year I have watched as you have grown into a beautiful and compassionate young lady. You are kind to others. You believe in fairness. You are hardworking and independent. You love dresses, high heels, nail polish, purses, the color purple, and anything else girly. You play dress up every day. We got your ears pierced a few weeks ago and now you have started the countdown until you can wear earrings that will match all of your outfits. Speaking of outfits, your closet has far surpassed mine! You love to dance and you LOVE to talk. I adore that you want to tell me about everything that goes on in your life. You wear your heart on your sleeve; you get your feelings hurt easily, but you are quick to forgive. You’re afraid of a lot of things too, but you claim that when you are 6, you’ll be braver. We shall see if this bravery extends to dogs anytime soon. You make me laugh every single day. You’re my absolute favorite.

Camdyn, you are my heart, my precious treasure. You bring me such joy. I am so thankful that the Lord blessed me with you. You have such a wonderful future ahead and I pray every day that the Lord will use you in a mighty way. I pray you would be a light to others in this incredibly dark world. Jesus won’t be the popular choice and it won’t be easy to stand firm for the Lord as you grow up. Choose to be different Camdyn!

I am so proud of you and I love you to the moon, sweet Camdyn.

Love,

Momma
