Today was quite aggravating! After waiting a week for our glider to arrive at Babies R Us, we finally got the call to come pick it up at 2 pm today. Bryan had class until 1:45, so he just came straight from class to meet me at the store. I had a bad feeling about it as soon as I saw the box our glider AND ottoman came in. We are talking a square box that a 2 year old would have a hard time hiding in. I even mentioned to the guy who was loading it into our car, "So I take it LOTS of assembly is required." Yep.
We got the sucker home and immediately began the daunting task of assesmbling this huge glider and ottoman out of tiny little wooden parts. Now before I get further into the story, I really would like to say that I have assembled many things in my day. Since when do ALL baby items come with assembly instructions in pictures only - no words, no identifors, just random pictures that you are supposed to make sense out of????
Anyways, I digress. Bryan and I are SO unbelievably frustrated. The directions are as clear as mud, and the whole time we are assembling it, we have no idea if we are doing it right. After wrestling with this beast for 3 HOURS, we snapped the last piece of fabric onto the glider. We smiled proudly at each other - together we had slain this dragon. We rejoiced too soon....
Bryan sat down and craaaccckkk. It was a sound that made my stomach flop. The whole bottom section of our glider had split apart - the wood was unrepairably broken. Arrrgggghhh!!
I called Babies R Us and they will order us a new one once we return the busted one tomorrow. However, the thought of fighting with this thing one more time makes me seriously consider calling my dad and offering to feed him for his building services.
